Features

Probably the most obvious characteristic of Esca disease on grapevines are the tiger stripes on the leaves. The leaf veins are usually surrounded by either a yellow or a red fringe. Another symptom may be their yellow coloration, which occurs due to the disease already in summer.

Consequences

The leaves dry up and fall off as a result of the infestation. The grapes also shrivel and turn brown, similar to leather berries, and burst open. Overall, there is withering and death of the vine.

Spread

The wind carries the spores and spreads the disease.
